Big Idea International Short Film Competition Launched
"We want to encourage people to use the language of film in a different way where originality has no limits."
The Nelson Film Awards Development Trust in association with the Rialto Channel and Apple Computers officially launched the Flying Fives International Film Awards and Competition today.
The Big Idea
Each film entered must have a 'BIG IDEA' behind it. The idea behind the story is as important as the scripting (if there is any), shooting and postproduction. The competition is about showcasing ideas and priming interest from production partners.
The Challenge
5 minutes to get the judges attention. This genre really tests the ability of filmmakers to clearly isolate the idea, accelerate the story development and get it captured on film.
"This competition, which will be annual event, is industry supported and offers entrants the opportunity to work with some of this country's leading filmmakers, have their work shown on the Rialto Channel and win an Apple eMac G4," said Trust Chairman John Bullock.
"Nelson is developing as a creative centre in New Zealand, this region is about ideas and film is very much a part of communication and expression so the idea of this competition is very much a natural fit with where we are going," said Ali Boswijk, Director of Nelson Bays Arts Marketing and the Nelson Film Office.
Entry details are all online at www.flyingfives.co.nz .
