Lord Of The Rings Exhbition At Te Papa Extended Due To Popular Demand
Due to high demand, The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy -
The Exhibition has been extended until 30 March 2003.
Nearly 90,000 people have visited the exhibition since it opened on 19
December 2002, making it on track to be Te Papa's most successful exhibition
to date.
Gianni Versace: The Reinvention of Material reached 108,000 over 100 days,
which averages approximately 1080 visitors per day. Body Odyssey - journey
through the human body attracted just over 110,000 during its 168 day
season, averaging 655 per day. The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy

Many of the artefacts in the exhibition are needed for completion of the
third film, and the original closing date of the 28 February was based on
this filming schedule. New Line Cinema has kindly revised their filming
schedule to make this extension possible.
'We are delighted that New Line Cinema has agreed to an extension of the
exhibition,' said Te Papa Chief Executive Seddon Bennington. 'Te Papa is the
only New Zealand venue, and this extension means more New Zealander's can
enjoy the exhibition before it goes overseas.'
The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy - The Exhibition runs until
Sunday 30 March 2003. Admission charges apply.
