Wanted: Visual Maestros to Rock the Fringe World

The first-ever public tour of Wellington artists’ studios and workshops is hurtling into the capital shortly and Fringe
NZ needs local artists to put their hands up for inclusion.
“We want every kind of artist from painters of gigantic canvases through to people who make found art in shoeboxes to be
a part of Visual Tourists,” said Tim Renner, director of the Fringe NZ Festival.
The Visual Tourists feast of innovative creativity allows artists to express their meanings and motivations without the
middle-man by advertising their studio location in Capital Times for free.
“Visual Tourists is the first organised opportunity for Wellingtonians to meet a number of our artists on their own
turf. It’s a chance for artists to present their ideas and themes and for the art public to get their art from the
horses mouth,” he said.
Its been 10 fast years since Fringe NZ began, and the successful Wellington-based festival continues to introduce the
capital to new creative fields. Its aim is to challenge artistic boundaries, and create new and exciting opportunities
for Wellington’s talent to shine.
Visual Tourists is happening on the weekend of 22 and 23 February and is produced with the assistance of Wellington’s
