Blackball Museum of Working Class History Charitable Trust
The West Coast Development Trust is pleased to announce a grant of $5,000 towards the cost of completing a feasibility study for the establishment of a Blackball Working Class History Museum.
The Trust is a co-funder of the project with the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board and the Blackball Resident’s Association who also contributed $5,000 each towards the project.
The Working-Class Museum concept was derived from the local community wishing to recognise and celebrate Blackball’s part in the establishment of a political voice for organised labour in New Zealand.
The feasibility study will research capital costs, areas of content, funding sources, exhibition design and management structures.
Should the project be feasible and implemented, the Museum will provide a further excursion for tourists to venture and prolong their stay on the West Coast.
