Truck Art – A chance to get your art moving around the city
The partners in Real Recycling -- Christchurch City Council, Onyx, Waimakariri District Council and Recovered Materials Foundation -- are offering an opportunity for local artists to get their work moving.
Six of the familiar Onyx recycling trucks are being turned into mobile works of art, each displaying two works of art on the sides of the trucks.
All people have to do to be considered is produce a work of art. If chosen the work and the artist’s signature will be enlarged and mounted on the trucks.
The Real Recycling partners want to promote a positive attitude about recycling and a greater awareness of the benefits of kerbside recycling. They are looking for images that are lively, creative, inventive or funky rather than earnest instructional pieces.
The programme is open to artists over 13 years old. Other conditions are available from the Christchurch City Council offices in Tuam Street (at the reception desk/information area on the ground floor ) and from Creative NZ’s display in the foyer of the old chemistry building at The Arts Centre.
