Best-selling VIVA LA VIDA catalogue breaks all Gallery records

The VIVA LA VIDA catalogue is proving hot property in Wellington, having made it to the Dymocks top ten list of
publications in February.
Sales of the catalogue, produced by City Gallery Wellington for the major international exhibition, have also
outstripped all other catalogues produced by the Gallery.
“We are thrilled with the success of this publication,” says Paula Savage, director.
“VIVA LA VIDA has captured the public’s imagination and once visitors have seen the show, they want to know more about
Frida, Diego and the other Mexican artists.”
The catalogue features colour plates of artworks with essays on Kahlo and Rivera, the Mexican muralist movement, the
collectors Jacques and Natasha Gelman, and contemporary Mexican artists represented.
“The VIVA LA VIDA catalogue has been one of the better selling art books we’ve had at Dymocks,” says Bruce Caddy,
manager of Dymocks Booksellers on Lambton Quay.
“Sales really took off after the exhibition opened.” The catalogue is on sale at the Gallery for $29.99, along with
other books and merchandise.
