BankDirect Launches New Web Site

Published: Fri 5 Nov 1999 12:05 AM
Internet and telephone banking specialists BankDirect have launched a new-look web site, featuring new and innovative customer functions and updated graphics.
The move marks a new ‘second phase’ for BankDirect, which has been a leader in Internet banking since its launch over two years ago.
From today, BankDirect (www.bankdirect.co.nz) will be offering the most comprehensive range of Internet banking services available in New Zealand.
The upgrade and enhancements are aimed at giving customers more control and greater self-sufficiency. There are more than 15 new online options, including:
 Setting up automatic payments.
 Adding new bill payments. This includes over 250 pre-loaded suppliers (eg power and phone companies) as well as a customer’s own personal payees (eg landlord, cleaner etc.)
 Requesting a change in credit card or overdraft limits.
 An alert function to remind you when your visa payment is due.
BankDirect’s new features signal a move from a 3rd generation web site (mainly transactional) to a generation 4 concept, where the emphasis is on customer service.
General Manager, Jane Freeman, says BankDirect is determined to remain the best Internet banking site in Australasia, with a focus on helping people to help themselves.
“The re-launch follows comprehensive customer research, aimed at finding out what customers really want from Internet banking,” she says.
“We are now the only Internet bank in New Zealand where customers can request to extend their credit card limit or trace an item online.”
In addition to the functional upgrade, the BankDirect web site has also changed its graphics to give the site even more impact.
“Our new graphics are designed to make navigation easier and to give the overall site a fresh look,” says Ms Freeman.
“While we have made the site look and perform better, we have taken special care not to compromise on speed. Our customers have told us that this (speed/efficiency) is one of the most important things to them.’
More interactive content such as Macromedia Flash will also add a new dimension.
