Statement From National Personnel Limited
This morning, Unite Union published a media release concerning the ERA proceedings you have issued against National
Personnel (NPL). That media release makes a number of allegations which are demonstrably false and defamatory of NPL:
• Unite Union claimed that NPL failed or refused to pay workers the wages they were owed until after “Unite Union filed
a legal case for lost wages”. This is false. NPL denies employing any of the claimants before October 2018. Once the
workers became employees of NPL in October and November 2018, all of them have been paid in full and on time.
• Moreover, Unite Union did not file proceedings in the Employment Relations Authority until January 2019. By that time,
all of the workers employed by NPL had been receiving proper wages payments for approximately two months.
• Finally, Unite Union have claimed that NPL induced 10 of the workers to withdraw their claims by making “false
promises” that their work permits would be extended. This is false. At no point has NPL ever made visa extensions
conditional on workers withdrawing their claims against the company.
