A Christmas to remember for 1000 NZ homeless cats and dogs

Published: Wed 19 Dec 2018 11:25 AM
This Christmas, Omega Plus pet food is bringing goodwill to homeless pets around New Zealand, partnering with 50 animal charities to feed 1000 cats and dogs who are currently waiting for their forever homes.
Animal charities from all around the country will jointly share close to 500kgs of Omega Plus premium King Salmon kibble.
The Omega Plus Animal Festive Feast initiative launched today at the Manukau Animal Shelter where 20 dogs literally sat down to a Christmas dinner of epic proportions. Another 60 dogs onsite had their bowls filled with premium pet food before and were then showered with lots of love and attention from the dedicated staff. In addition to their delicious dinner, these beloved pups all received a selection of doggy Christmas presents and toys, also donated by Omega Plus.
Omega Plus Divisional Manager Simon Thomas said they wanted to remind people that pets are for life and not just for Christmas and hoped that by shining a light on these animals, people will stop and reflect on the responsibility that comes with owning a pet. “We’re also really pleased to be able to assist these hard-working animal charities who work tirelessly to rescue and rehome these cats and dogs. Many of these charities don’t receive any official funding, so we thought what better way to help than by supplying them with our quality King Salmon pet-food”.
Animal care packages brimming with food and treats are being sent out to charities all this week, ranging from Auckland down to Dunedin and all the main centres in between..
