Elegant apartments with city and harbour views reimagine suburban living
One, two and three-bedroom apartments in an architecturally-designed boutique development with stunning views over Orakei Basin, Hobson Bay and Auckland City, reimagine suburban living.
The stylish Satori apartment complex in the eastern waterfront suburb of Orakei is an upmarket 17-unit development - replacing what was once a single state house sitting on some 1700 square metres of majestic hilltop land in the quiet Grace Street cul-de-sac adjacent to Awarua Reserve.
Satori is a Japanese word which translates into English as ‘enlightenment’ referring to the awakening of one’s inner conscious.
The luxury four-storey building is being constructed to embrace a raft of cutting-edge environmentally sustainable innovations, including;
• A storm water and water conservation management system where rainwater from the rooftop is used to flow through the complex’s multi-level water feature and provide irrigation to the extensive native New Zealand landscaping across 40 percent of the property
• Some 500 square metres of solar paneling on the roof – with the resulting electricity generated used to power lighting in Satori’s communal areas and a central water heating system
• An underground car park accessed by two vehicle elevators – allowing for a more efficient use of the available land by minimising the need for ramps and driveways
and
• The installation of conduits for electrical vehicle charging.
Satori developer Jim Castiglione says the spacious apartments represented affordable buying for people seeking stylish, yet functional living in one of Auckland’s most sought after suburbs – with Satori’s one-bedroom loft units being marketed for sale from $1.095 million, two-bedroom residences available for $2.015 million, and the penthouse for sale by negotiation.
Located in an elevated position in the Satori enclave is a shared entertainment and reflection amenity, the Satori Lounge, featuring a full kitchen, spacious dining and indoor seating arrangements, separate outdoor dining area with BBQ, and resort-style al-fresco deck furniture.
Mr Castiglione said that by working closely with Auckland Council and committing to innovative planning and design, Satori demonstrated how the Auckland Unitary Plan could benefit Aucklanders through the creation of compliant quality residential living.
“Satori’s focus on sustainability through the use of renewable resources not only benefits residents - with reduced utility bills and a smaller carbon footprint, but it also serves the wider community and environment with reduced dependence on local infrastructure,” he said.
“In essence, we have maintained the city and waterfront horizon vista for properties on the ridgeline above. Meanwhile, the rain reticulation system means there is less water flowing into the storm water system, and we’re harnessing the sun’s energy to help power Satori for the long term.”
Bayleys Remuera salesperson Louise De Martin said the development was unique -with all apartments north and north-west facing so all residents would enjoy spectacular vistas from One Tree Hill, across the Orakei Basin, and over Hobson Bay to the Auckland skyline.
“Satori is something truly private and special – delivering surprise and delight in every detail. It is an exceptional development unlike anything I have seen before,” Ms De Martin said.
“The area is steeped in history. Orakei Marae and Takaparawhau, Bastion Point, as the cultural heart of Ngati Whatua, are just a short walk away, as are the sparkling waters of the Orakei Basin - which hosts a wide range of watersport activities such as water-skiing, kayaking and stand-up paddle-boarding.”
The site has been cleared in preparation for the extensive New Zealand native landscaping. Excavation work for the building at Satori is scheduled to begin in January 2019, with construction lined up for March, and an estimated completion date the following year. With strong interest, most of Satori’s residences are expected to sell before construction even begins.
