Dependability & transparency of data key for Maori Language Commission in promoting te reo
Wellington, 12 September, 2018 – Maori Language Commission achieved its highest ever Auditor General ranking following implementation of new technology.
As Te Wiki o re Reo Māori (Māori Language Week) kicks off on September 10, Te Taura Whiri i Te Reo Māori (the Māori Language Commission, MLC) heads into this key part of the calendar with greatly improved financial clarity for auditing, now that Endeavour’s implementation of MYOB Advanced has ensured greater dependability and transparency of their data.
Since the MYOB Advanced implementation, the Māori Language Commission (MLC) has achieved a massive improvement in its audit ratings in just the first year. The Auditor-General ranking of MLC’s accounts following the implementation of the new system was the highest in the organisation’s 30 year history.
The main challenge faced by the MLC were untrustworthy systems and a lack of accountability. This was largely due to financial reports being generated manually, making them more susceptible to incorrect data. This resulted in missed deadlines and no audit trail.
Since Endeavour’s implementation of MYOB Advanced, the MLC’s management control environment, financial information systems and controls, and performance information has improved greatly. Not only that, but there’s also been an increase in productivity and a reduction in workload.
The MLC has also seen a higher level of board confidence in data, thanks to accurate, up-to-date dashboard reporting.
“Working with the Maori Language Commission has allowed Endeavour to do what we do best,” says Tim Ryley, Endeavour CEO. “We have worked together to improve the quality and reliability of information, improve business process, enhance the roles and skills of their team, and increase their audit compliance.”
A case study was developed that details the issues faced by the MLC, the steps Endeavour took to resolve them, and the impact MYOB Advanced has had on the organisation.
The case study is available here.
