Barker’s, T Global win at NZ Food Awards
The NZ Food & Grocery Council congratulates members Barker’s of Geraldine and T Global for their success at the Massey University NZ Food Awards.
Barker’s won a category for the third year in a row, this year for a new product in the Villa Maria Non-Alcoholic Beverages Award category – Squeezed Fruit Botanicals Syrup: Squeezed Lemons with Lime, Cucumber and Mint. They won the dry category award in 2015 with their New Zealand Seedless Berry Bramble Preserve, and again last year with their New Yorker Mustard Relish.
T Global was awarded the MPI Primary Sector Products Award for their innovative Lotatoes – potatoes that have 40 per cent less carbs.
FGC Chief Executive Katherine Rich said both companies should be very proud of their efforts because the competition was again very tough.
She said Barker’s win was a great achievement, particularly because it may be the first time one company has won an award in three consecutive years.
T’s Lotatoes product was a great example of the food industry using science to improve important foods to make them a healthier choice.
FGC also congratulates all those members who were judged finalists for the awards evening.
