Not even Jacinda’s Deputy is confident with Labour’s tax policy
1 SEPTEMBER 2017 - The Taxpayers’ Union says that the Labour Party is being far from transparent, when even their own Deputy can’t work out its tax policies. Kelvin Davis’ confusionon the AM Show this morning as to their position on tax shows why New Zealanders need much more information about Grant Robertson’s tax plans.
Spokesperson Matthew Rhodes says, “If Labour's Deputy Leader Kelvin Davis isn’t confident as to his Party’s position on tax, how can they expect New Zealanders to be? Labour need to be clear with voters with what will take from earners’ pockets after the election.”
“It was clear from the interview that Mr Davis wants to campaign on taxes at the following election, to gain a proper mandate from voters at that time. We agree. A vague promise to send four taxes to a working group to decide what should be taken from New Zealanders is not a mandate to tax voters now.”
