German au pair, Samira Haas wins New Zealand Au Pair of the Year 2017!
German au pair, Samira Haas, has been announced Au Pair of the Year 2017 by New Zealand’s largest au pair agency, Au Pair Link. Samira Haas, who grew up in a small town called Groß-Gerau (near Frankfurt) in Germany is now living with her host family of four in Auckland, New Zealand. With her host family’s nomination, she has earned the title of this year’s Au Pair of the Year. She provides dedicated in-home child care and education for the host family’s two children.
During her time with her host family, she realised, “It's important to spend time with people you love and just be happy. Don't worry too much about little things.”
The Au Pair of the Year is an annual competition run by Au Pair Link. They invite host families from all over New Zealand to send in their nomination in the form of a letter or video. The winner is awarded with a $1000 STA Travel voucher and a certificate of achievement. Each entry is judged based on the writing from the heart, the passion of the entry, the specific and exceptional differences made to the lives of the children and parents and the evident bond developed between the au pair and host family.
