Talk Geospatial at Techweek‘17
3 May 2017
The Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA NZ) is holding breakfast events in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch – Talk Geospatial – to share the positive impacts of the use of geospatial information and technology to those on the periphery of this industry.
Talk Geospatial highlights a Wellington City Council project called Living Labs, a community-driven collaboration using smart technology to make Wellington safer and smarter for the city’s vulnerable. Living Lab overlays sensory data such as glass breaking, screaming and anti-social behaviour on a real-time map, with the resulting alerts used to help keep people safer in the city.
Wellington City Council won the top award for Living Lab at last November’s prestigious New Zealand Spatial Excellence Awards, a joint venture between the spatial profession, business and government to hold annual awards for all sectors, disciplines and communities that make up the spatial industry. WCC went on to win the supreme award at the Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards in Sydney last month.
Sean Audain, Innovation Officer from Wellington City Council will present. Our other presenters are Dan Newman, Head of Design at Koordinates, and Dr Sara McBride, GeoNet Information Team Leader, GNS Science.
The Talk Geospatial breakfast series is being held in Auckland on 8 May, Wellington on 10 May and Christchurch on 11 May. To view these events and to register: http://techweek.co.nz/whats-on/
