Rangiora Vet Centre to provide 24/7 Veterinary Care
On October 31st Rangiora Vet Centre will begin providing residents of North Canterbury with 24 hour veterinary care from
the Rangiora clinic.
Best Practice Hospital accredited and representing an advanced level of veterinary treatment and care, for RVC this is
all part of providing the high standard of service and professionalism expected of them.
RVC is the only clinic in the South Island to consistently have on-site staff and care 24 hours a day. Consistent care
at the very best level will be available to pets requiring after hours emergency treatment, surgical recovery,
monitoring, repeat medication and overnight hospitalisation.
The decision to start the 24 hour service came from continual requests from clients inconvenienced by having to
transport their pets into Christchurch for emergency after hours care and overnight hospitalisation.
“Planning, recruitment and training began at the beginning of the year,” said RVC Director and Vet Ben Davidson. “A few
months ago we began a trial period, testing procedures and protocols, after a lot of hard work by a number of people, we
are ready to go live and promote the extended service to the public, it’s very exciting!”
Rangiora Vet Centre employs more than 50 staff across its 3 clinics in Rangiora, Kaiapoi and Woodend. They have recently
announced their Hospital Accreditation and celebrated their success at the North Canterbury Business Awards, winning the
Innovative Business Award. “This is all fantastic recognition of many people over many years, now announcing the 24/7
Veterinary care service, propels us toward our mission of being a centre of veterinary excellence for North Canterbury”,
says Dr Davidson.
Two projects still under construction for Rangiora Vet Centre, scheduled to be operational by the end of 2016, are the
Equine Surgery located at the Rangiora clinic, and the RVC Cattery, located at the Woodend clinic, which opened earlier
this year.
