G.J. Gardner Homes Kapiti/Wellington Named Business of the Year
The team from G.J. Gardner Homes Kapiti/Wellington is celebrating after taking home the Supreme Business of the Year Award at the 2016 Electra Business Awards in Levin.
As well as nabbing the top prize, the Kapiti/Wellington franchise took home the Small Business Excellence Award and the Health and Safety Achievement Award.
Shalimar Axford and Michael Sudfelt, of Sudfelt Construction Ltd, are the managing directors at the G.J. Gardner Kapiti/Wellington franchise, Shalimar says: “It’s an honour to be recognised for the work we do. We love providing a quality product and knowing that it’s being received positively on the other end, makes the whole job worth while.
“We truly believe the thing that makes us a great franchise is our team. We have an excellent group of people, who enjoy what they do. The team make it really easy to have a great business, because they are all so hardworking.”
G.J. Kapiti/Wellington is based in Paraparaumu and builds homes throughout the greater Wellington region. The franchise was applauded at the awards for running a successful business that provides a quality product time and time again, all while offering great service and quality workmanship. The business also passionately supports the local community and supporting groups.
Judges at the awards praised the business for the systems, monitoring and management focus aspects of G.J. Gardner Homes, which had enabled the business to achieve success in a short period of time. Judges comment: “The judges have recognised a great future for G.J. Gardner Homes in a very challenging environment. They commend the directors for using careful planning, good systems and a very strong customer orientated mentality to set a clear path for the future. This is a company we will hear much more from in future.”
Grant Porteous, the NZ Master Franchisor for G.J. Gardner Homes, says: “All of our franchises are like family members, and to see the Kapiti/Wellington franchise take home this award gives us a lot of pride.

The Electra Business Awards have been running since 1993 and aim to recognise business excellence and help to grow individual business capability.
