It’s well known that employees can be sent over the edge by their bosses but a Christchurch charity is encouraging
employees to turn the tables and drop their bosses off a building to support the region’s young people.
The fundraiser will see more than 20 Christchurch bosses abseil down the four-storey Les Mills building at 203 Cashel St
from 7.30 am,Friday 7 October 2016.
The money will go towards supporting the Graeme Dingle Foundation’s KiwiCan, Stars and Project K programmes, which help
build self-esteem, promote good values, and teach valuable life, education and health skills to around 1500 Christchurch
kids in lower decile areas and demand for the programmes is increasing.
Each of the bosses are rallying their colleagues, friends and family to help them raise $1,000 in return for the
opportunity to see them drop. Some bosses are even going to be dressing up for the occasion, with their highest donor
getting to choose what costume they wear.
Those already signed up include Deloitte’s David Seath, Bidvest’s Chris Graham, Sanford’s Kevin Wood, Assurity’s Bruce
Keightley, ARANZ Medical’s Tom Rochford, OneLaw/CommArc’s Phil Johnson and Smiths City Roy Campbell.
Other great ‘bosses’ making the leap are from ANZ, AMI, Arrow International, Hagley-Ferrymead Community Board, House of
Travel, Kmart, Pepes Mexican Grill, and Public Defence Service.
Graeme Dingle Foundation Canterbury regional manager Noeline Allan says the fundraiser will go towards empowering the
great kids of Canterbury to reach their potential.
"The event encourages bosses to try something outside their comfort zone, just as our programmes encourage our young
people to do.”
The Foundation's fundraising target is $30,000 and they are nearly at $8,000.
