Pacific Trade Invest partners to promote Pacific products at Fine Foods NZ expo
Trade buyers are showing good interest in Pacific island products showcased at Fine Food New Zealand trade expo that kicked off on Sunday.
PT NZ has partnered with New Zealand distributors, The Produce Company in a new approach that could potentially see more quality Pacific products on shop shelves in future.
The new partnership’s first joint promotion launched at Fine Food New Zealand’s four day expo at the Auckland ASB Showgrounds from 26 – 29 June.
PT Trade Commissioner Michael Greenslade said, “We are focused on creating more opportunities for our Pacific exporters. This partnership is a step in the right direction and we are excited to work with The Produce Company.”
PT has identified and developed supply chain partnerships with New Zealand companies who had an existing relationship with the Pacific Islands for the past year, he said.
PT is promoting a range of premium Pacific Island products from twelve companies across four different Pacific Island countries
The products include premium Arabica coffee grown in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea; flavoured Kava shots; gluten free breadfruit flour and coconut water from Fiji; a chocolate assortment from the Solomon Islands; Nangai nuts, cassava flour, certified organic spices from Vanuatu and coconut oil and cocoa cubes from Samoa.
The Produce Company is a food distribution company with more than 3000 individual products ranging from milk to meat and seafood. They supply top restaurants, cafes, bars, corporate caterers and super yachts in New Zealand.
Products selected for Fine Food New Zealand have an excellent opportunity of catching the eye of trade only buyers and foodies. Fine Food is the biennial premier international trade exhibition for the food service, hospitality and retail industries in New Zealand. It attracts hundreds of New Zealand and International exhibitors and more than 7000 local and overseas visitors.
The show provides the perfect platform to showcase Pacific Island products to the market against a vast range of other strong competitors, but PT along with The Produce Company are confident they have the right mix of products.
The Produce Company already had a close association with the Pacific as exporters of New Zealand products to the Pacific for the past 10 years said Director John Stokes.
“Recently we have started to look at importing products back to New Zealand, we are working with a number of Pacific Island businesses to achieve export standards and explore opportunities for export. We are excited to work with Pacific Islands Trade & Invest to achieve this goal.”
Fine Food New Zealand runs from 26-29 June from 10am-5pm at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland.
