MBIE’s key outcomes linked to Pasifika Business Awards
The importance of growing sustainable Pacific owned businesses is one of the many reasons why the Ministry of Business,
Innovation and Employment (MBIE) are getting behind the inaugural ANZ Pasifika Business Awards 2016.
Hosted by the Wellington Pasifika Business Network, on April 7, Pacific people will come together at Wellington’s iconic
Te Wharewaka o Poneke to celebrate local, emerging, innovative and established Pasifika businesses.
From Pasifika Rising Star Business of the Year to the Supreme Award – Wellington Pasifika Business of the Year, the
awards will recognise everything from uniqueness of a business and/or business idea, commitment and innovation to
growth, and overall leadership. All are factors of which Network Chair, Paul Retimanu, believes are critical to a
thriving and successful business.
“The awards will recognise all the factors which are important aspects and building blocks of a growing business.” Says

acknowledge the work that Pacific businesses are doing in respective fields.”

Chief Advisor Pasifika, MBIE, Matalena Leaupepe says that the network and awards are an important part of increasing
sustainable Pacific owned businesses – a key outcome in MBIE’s Pacific Economic Strategy.
“Business owners often create a ripple effect of increased employment, skills and innovation amongst Pacific
communities. These efforts support increased incomes and create resilience in times of economic downturn.”

Tickets are $120 (GST inc) per person or a table of 8 for $900 (GST inc). This includes entertainment, three-course meal
