Matakina Technology Announces Company Name Change to Volpara Health Technologies
20 October 2015 – Wellington medtech company Matakina Technology have announced they are changing their name to Volpara Health Technologies to better align its identity with the international healthcare market it serves.
Matakina have marketed their breast imaging tools under their sales and marketing arm, Volpara Solutions for over 5 years, with installations in 31 countries, and report their software has analysed the mammograms of over seven million women.
“The Volpara name was created by one of our founders, combining the words ‘volumetric’ and ‘parameters’, and it has become a powerful global brand. ‘Health Technologies’ encompasses our future plans in the healthcare industry,” said Ralph Highnam, Ph.D., CEO, Volpara Health Technologies.
Highnam is a finalist in the business category of the 2015 Wellingtonian of the Year Awards, having seen Volpara win the Cisco Hi-Tech Emerging Company of the Year award in June 2015.
Earlier this month the company signed a 3-year group purchasing agreement with Premier, Inc., an alliance of more than 3,600 U.S. hospitals and 120,000-plus other healthcare sites working together to achieve high quality, cost-effective care.
