Tap in on Tapp
Queenstown-based taxi app, Tapp a Taxi are launching an equity crowdfunding campaign on PledgeMe today.
The app works by using peoples mobile phones and GPS location to make hailing a taxi more efficient. Unlike other taxi
apps, Tapp works across taxi companies.
“Tapp is an app made by taxi drivers for taxi drivers that makes everyone’s lives easier,” Tapp CEO and former taxi
driver Simon Haslett said.
“With Tapp, people will get far better service, with a much more streamlined experience and the drivers will get a
better deal.
“We already have hundreds of users since our launch and have received over 11,000 requests a month. We are building
supply and working with national taxi companies to fulfil this demand.”
Mr Haslett said Tapp is equity crowdfunding so they can expand their operations to meet demand and bring people into
their crowd.
“With so many users, we’re looking to scale our operation and build partnerships with taxi companies across New Zealand.
“Tapp has already gone global with taxi companies in Colombia, Latin America already looking to use our system.
“We’re giving drivers and passengers alike an opportunity to share in building and distributing our solution to the
changing face of taxi industry.
“Equity crowdfunding will allow us to attract people who wouldn’t or couldn’t normally invest in a company like this,
especially with a larger international operation, and reap the rewards from doing so.
“Through our networks we’ll be looking for investment from anyone, including current taxi drivers, and the substantial
proportion of the population who use taxis regularly.
Tapp is looking to raise a minimum of $250,000 and a maximum of $1 million (between 7.7% and 25% of the company).
PledgeMe CEO Anna Guenther said Tapp was aiming to change the way taxis are booked.
“This team have personal experience in the inefficiencies of the current taxi system and have come up with a scalable
way to address these pain points.
“It is an interesting time in this space and we’re excited to see companies coming through wanting to shake it up with
the support of their crowd — the people who will use and promote the service.”
Tapp’s PledgeMe campaign will be live from 9 AM on Monday 25 May at: https://www.pledgeme.co.nz/investments/102-tapp-limited
