New park café to bring truly fresh approach
The new Cornwall Park Café which opens in Cornwall Park today will meet a growing service demand from the park’s four
million visitors with a new twist.
A ‘farm to table’ philosophy will in future see the café gather its produce fresh from the park’s own gardens, says café
operator Andrew Bell.
“People come here to run, walk or just enjoy the park. The new café will offer just another way of helping them enjoy
its abundance.
“We’ve received overwhelming support from the Cornwall Park Trust Board and park users alike in getting to this point.
Everyone’s excited for us to open and looking forward to enjoying what we will offer.” says café operator Andrew Bell.
The Cornwall Park Café will meet growing demand for a more modern, casual dining experience to complement the park
Bistro, which is currently undergoing refurbishment.
Michael Ayrton, Park Director, is delighted that the café is finally opening especially after the building was
extensively damaged by a fire in October last year and had to be re-built.
The café will provide an all-day menu, counter food and will cater for the walkers and runners of the park as well by
providing home-grown, healthy options.
“From the Park surveys completed, the visitors to the Park have been asking for something like this, and everyone has
really pulled together to make this project something special,” Mr Ayrton says.
The café will offer a special atmosphere in an outstanding location that can on occasion be used for events like
small-scale weddings or birthday parties.
“It will be great when the sun is shining and people can stretch out under the veranda or the paved area – this adds to
the appeal of the venue” Mr Bell says.
The Cornwall Park Café is situated between the Flagpole carpark and the band Rotunda on the eastern side of the park
which is one of the more popular areas in the Park.
The much anticipated opening will be at 8am on Monday 18th May, and the Trust looks forward to visitors enjoying its new
cafe in the Park.
