NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 13 July 2014
ELECTRICITY
We received two reports from emergency services of house/building fires during the week, but one of these reports was a
false alarm. Emergency services requested our control room isolate power to a building fire in Mangere during the week.
There was a car v. pole in Mt Wellington during the week. The site was made safe, and a street light was referred to the
council.
GAS
There was a pipe strike in Northcote Point during the week. Our contractors advised of the necessary repairs being
completed.
PROJECTS
The low pressure rehabilitation gas pipeline project has recently been completed in Auckland. The average age of the old
gas pipelines was 81 years, with some dating back to the late 1800s. This project has seen hundreds of kilometres of low
pressure cast iron and steel gas pipelines replaced with new polyethylene networks.
