Taurus Group appoints Mark Phillips
Finance, chartered accountancy and property specialist Taurus Group has boosted its banking expertise with the appointment of Mark Phillips as Head of Capital and Finance.
Mark Phillips will lead a division specialising in capital raisings, property structuring, business sale and acquisition, and structuring and advice.
He joins after 30 years’ experience in international investment banking and wealth management working for institutions in London, Asia, Australia and New Zealand such as Bear Stearns, BNZ, NAB and ANZ McCaughan Merchant Bank.
Director of Taurus Group, David Kitson says Mark’s breadth of international expertise will bring huge value at a time when the Canterbury and national economies are showing signs of consistent growth following the GFC, and Christchurch earthquakes:
“Mark’s arrival adds further strength to our mission to offer a balance between strategic financial solutions integrated with chartered accountancy services, which we believe is the shape of a modern business consultancy.
“Having a person of Mark’s calibre on board sends a clear message that Taurus only offers the best team, best advice and service.
“The capital and finance side of our business will increasingly become a driver for us as New Zealand leaves the global financial downturn behind – Mark’s insight and knowledge will help us achieve our bullish objective of being the leader in our field,” he says.
Mark Phillips’ appointment comes after recent success for Taurus including the takeover of the management of a group of property syndicates in 2013 and completing two major corporate divestments in Christchurch this year.
His former roles have included running a fixed income proprietary trading desk, Head of Fixed Income, various aspects of structured finance, Global Head of New Product Development and marketing in the Wealth Management sector.
Taurus Group also delivers: business advisory and taxation services: trusts, succession planning and asset protection: financial reporting: advice on receiverships, liquidation and debt recovery: property syndicate management and project management.
With a head office in Christchurch since 1995, and operating nationally through partners, Taurus delivers creative financial solutions to individuals, companies, trusts and syndicates.
Its team has carved a reputation for strategic finance advice and programme implementation, with the support of the chartered accountancy services that are the core of its business.
