Consumers deserve greater clarity
Consumers want more clarity around power price changes, says the country’s electricity distribution industry.
The Electricity Networks Association, which represents the country’s 29 distribution companies, has welcomed the Electricity Authority’s investigation of retailer power price claims.
“Our members operate power networks in every part of the country, so we’re close to the communities we serve. The feedback we’re getting from consumers is that they’re confused about the April price changes,” says Association Chief Executive Alan Jenkins.
“The first and most important thing consumers want is unbiased, factual information. Secondly they want it in a form they can understand. The way information is communicated is very complex and confusing"
“Work is needed to improve price transparency. If it’s difficult for Consumers to compare service offers from Retailers then they can’t make informed choices about which retail offer would suit them best.”
