Slightly Softer Wool Levels
New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s General Manager, Mr John Dawson reports that a stronger New Zealand dollar compared to the last sale on 8th August combined with a larger weekly wool volume and quiet international demand saw the market ease off slightly.
Of the 18,660 bales on offer from both selling centres, 88 percent sold. The weighted indicator for the main trading currencies lifted 0.88 percent accounting for around half of the price differences.
Mr Dawson advises that Mid Micron wools remained firm to slightly easier.
Fine Crossbred Full Fleece were firm to 3 percent cheaper with the shorter types 1 to 4 percent softer.
Coarse Crossbred Fleece were firm to 2 percent easier with shears ranging from firm to 4 percent down.
A nominal offering of end of season lambs wool were slightly cheaper.
Oddments ranged from firm to 5 percent easier with the shorter types affected the most.
Limited competition with Australasia, China and the Middle East principals, supported by Western Europe, India and the United Kingdom.
Next sale on the 22nd August comprises approximately 5,800 bales from the South Island.
