New Zealand diners given opportunity to enjoy first Penfolds Grange dinner
Penfolds and Euro team up to host a night of opulence, indulgence and extravagance
Traditionally 1 May is one of the most exciting days in the Penfolds calendar. It is greeted with enthusiasm and
anticipation as Penfolds devotees queue up at Magill Estate Cellar door to purchase a bottle of the new release vintage
Penfolds Grange.
However, if you like to indulge in fine wine and dining, now is your chance to enjoy some of the good stuff too.
Saturday 14 May sees celebrity chef Simon Gault host the first ever Penfolds Grange dinner in New Zealand at his newly
renovated Euro restaurant.
With a world-class six course degustation, prepared by Gault, each course will be perfectly matched to one of Penfolds
luxury Grange wines.
“Every good chef knows a Penfolds Grange wine is guaranteed to have that 5 per cent magic. The detail that goes into
these wines is truly remarkable and I am anticipating a very unique evening. The foods will be paired to enhance
flavours and give consumers an experience to cherish,” says Simon.
Steve Lienert, Penfolds Senior Red Wine Maker will play host for the evening, and will guide attendees through the
latest Grange offering. Steve has built a reputation as one of the finest red wine connoisseurs at Penfolds and
guarantees any Grange red wine will be nothing but the best.
“The Grange release is always received with huge excitement and accolade. The Icon and Luxury wines epitomise a Penfolds
experience. It is my responsibility to maintain style and quality – with every Grange release, the pressure is on to
continue to produce a vintage that outdoes the previous, the 2006 release most certainly does this”, says Steve.
Attendees will have the opportunity to be among the first in New Zealand to enjoy the latest Penfolds Grange release
including the 2006, Yattarna Chardonnay 2008, Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz 2008 and St
Henri Shiraz 2007.
