Wider ambition takes Designworks into Australia
Leading New Zealand strategic design practice Designworks has strengthened its presence in Australia through a merger with established Melbourne design agency Yello Brands.
Designworks Group CEO Sven Baker said the two companies have worked closely together for several years and have a similar vision and culture.
"The opportunity has arisen for Yello to join Designworks' growing family of offices and represents another step for the company towards realising its ambition to be a truly Australasian business and, ultimately, achieve a greater Asia-Pacific presence.
"The process has been logical and easy and ultimately will put us in a stronger position to facilitate the export aspirations of our Australasian clients," said Mr Baker.
"Our whole focus is on designing the most successful downunder brands in the world. Melbourne is yet another step in helping us achieve this ambition," he said.
Heading up the Designworks Melbourne office will be Stephanie Gasperini, who has previously been GM at Interbrand NZ and, more recently, CEO of design agencies Insight Creative and Origin Design.
Mr Baker said: "The appointment of Stephanie underlines our commitment to ensuring this move will be a successful one. Stephanie has extensive experience in the industry and her contribution will be invaluable."
Stephanie Gasperini added: "My aim will be to leverage Designworks' outstanding creative reputation in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region and create a strong platform for the company to grow further."
Designworks, Supreme Winner of New Zealand's 2010 Vero Excellence in Business Support Award, has made its mark helping key New Zealand companies successful transform their brands - these include Air New Zealand, AMI Insurance, DB's Monteith's and Tui brands, Methven, HotChilly, Leap, Silver Fern Farms, Southern Cross Healthcare and Telecom. Similarly, Designworks Melbourne has helped a broad range of clients including ASG, Cancer Council Australia, City Farmers and Dulux.
