Google announcement means companies must update web content constantly to stay relevant
Today’s launch of Caffeine by Google – a new web indexing system – means companies will have to update their web and
internet directory content regularly if they want to rank better.
Co-founder of Gopher.co.nz – New Zealand’s fastest growing online directory – BJ Sveistrup, says the Google announcement
marks a big change in how the internet search giant updates and organises information.
“We are telling our clients to log-in Gopher.co.nz almost monthly to update their profile – now is good – because you
will rank better with fresh content.”
According to the Google announcement, by Software Engineer Carrie Grimes, Caffeine allows searchers to find fresher
information than ever before—no matter when or where it was published.
“Today, we're announcing the completion of a new web indexing system called Caffeine. Caffeine provides 50 percent
fresher results for web searches than our last index, and it's the largest collection of web content we've offered.
Whether it's a news story, a blog or a forum post, you can now find links to relevant content much sooner after it is
published than was possible ever before,” said Grimes.
