Vodafone and SKY team up for even more Mobile TV
Vodafone and SKY confirmed today the addition of 5 new Mobile TV channels, increasing the current SKY Mobile TV channel
line-up to 14. From today, Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney, Trackside, World Wrestling Entertainment and Nickelodeon
will be added to the current SKY Mobile TV channel line-up, and the best news for Vodafone customers is that the price
stays exactly the same: $2.50 a week for all 14 channels.
Vodafone’s current SKY Mobile TV channels include Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Comedy Central, E!, MTV, Discovery
Channel, SKY News, SKY Sport News and pay-per-view channel Playboy. Viewers can also watch pay-per-view live sports
events including all the action from the Black Caps and All Blacks, the Warriors and Super 14 Rugby, and ANZ Netball
when in season.
Vodafone’s Head of Internet Services, Charlie Clementson says the new channels are just in time for the holiday season.
“On those long car trips with the kids getting fractious in the back, it’s great to have a Vodafone 3G mobile to hand
back to keep them entertained. Or if you’re stuck away from a TV and you want your fill of news or sport or even the
racing, you’ll find it all on your Vodafone SKY Mobile TV.”
And with Vodafone’s 3G Extend network reaching 97% of the places New Zealanders live work and play, customers with
capable mobiles will be able to watch SKY Mobile TV on their mobiles in more places than ever before.
SKY Television’s Director of New Media, Richard Last says our aim is to deliver content to customers anytime, anywhere
so that they can watch what they want when they want to – the Vodafone 3G platform delivers this.
“With the addition of the 5 new channels, SKY Mobile TV channel line-up now comprises a wide variety of programme genres
appealing to an ever increasing range of demographics.”
The new SKY Mobile TV channel line-up has been on test for a week and officially launches on 17th December 2009.
