Symantec Helps Customers Move to Windows 7 With Confidence
Symantec’s updated products provide comprehensive protection for Microsoft customers and enable seamless migration to Windows 7
Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced its support for Microsoft Windows 7, with its Norton-branded consumer products and enhanced versions of its enterprise security, backup and recovery and migration technologies. Working closely with Microsoft, Symantec has engineered solutions to help Microsoft customers – from consumers to large enterprises – simplify the migration to Windows 7 and build a safer, more secure computing environment.
Comprehensive Protection for Consumers
Norton Internet Security 2010 and Norton AntiVirus 2010, which feature the groundbreaking new Quorum reputation-based technology, were designed to deliver security for Windows 7. Additionally, Norton Internet Security 2009, Norton AntiVirus 2009 and Norton 360 Version 3.0 have all been updated to support Windows 7. Active subscribers will automatically receive the appropriate compatibility update online and no user action will be required.
In addition to the flagship Norton offerings, OnlineFamily.Norton, Norton Online Backup and Norton Utilities are all Windows 7 compatible. Users of older versions of Norton security products can visit the Norton Update Center for information on how to get the latest versions of their products and to see if a Windows 7 compatible version is available.
Streamlined Migration Processes
Symantec has deployed and migrated more than 300 million desktops and notebooks to Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and now Windows 7. Symantec solutions automate the Windows 7 migration process and help users cut migration cost and complexity.
Altiris Deployment Solution from Symantec helps ease the migration to Windows 7 and enables painless deployment for organisations of all sizes. Altiris Client Management Suite from Symantec utilises the same Windows 7 migration activities and adds broad IT lifecycle management capabilities for ongoing deployment, management and troubleshooting. Windows 7 imaging and migration support are offered now with Altiris Deployment Solution and Altiris Client Management Suite.
Enhanced Security for Businesses
As the number and sophistication of web-based viruses and malicious code escalates, businesses need to be secured with more than traditional antivirus technology. Symantec has developed software engineered for Windows 7 to help ensure Microsoft customers are more completely protected. Symantec Endpoint Protection provides Windows 7 business customers with the confidence that their critical assets are protected from today’s known and unknown threats.
Automated Backup and Recovery
Lack of proper backup and recovery protection for desktops and laptops puts organisations at risk of losing critical business data and can hinder productivity during the migration to Windows 7. Information management solutions supporting Windows 7 can help organisations get back up and running should they encounter a system failure, human error or disaster. Upcoming versions of Symantec Backup Exec and Backup Exec System Recovery will support Windows 7, enabling small and mid-sized businesses to restore data or complete Windows 7 desktops and laptops in minutes, even to dissimilar hardware.
