Overwhelming mandate for MIAG

MIAG has received an overwhelming mandate for their continuation in a watchdog role
MIAG is relieved with the significant lift in lamb and ewe prices however these recent prices are as a result of a low NZ$ and an ever shrinking product supply
We are hughly proud of what MIAG have tried to achieve A group of concerned, self motivated farmers who's only concern was to improve the industry they were apart of, stepped up to the plate. But we also recognise MIAG have not always got it right.
We have awakened the awareness of the terrible disfunctionality of much of our red meat industry:
 The corrupt practices due to the procurement battles.
The terrible inefficiencies a fragmented uncooperative industry has
The stupidity of New Zealand companies under cutting each other in the market place to "get the sale done" and keep their share of the quota at any price
To a great extent nothing has changed but on a larger front much has;
Initially when the talk of consolidation was spoken of it was almost laughed at. We would argue now it is seen by almost all industry players as nesscesary. Also now almost everyone understands the futility of NZ companies heavily competing to sell the same product.
How this can be achieved still remains the big question. MIAG is determined to achieve an outcome. We intend to work more closely within the established structures but still retain an independence that our members want us to maintain.
