Grand Opening of Speak Easy Restaurante
It may not be the biggest, yet it is definitely the newest restaurant created to introduce the richest pallet to the
greater Wellington dining scene. Spanish cuisine won the hearts of Michael and Hilary in their extensive overseas travel
and inspired the degustation flavours of Speak Easy restauranté.
Boasting bold colours, Speak Easy is combining decadent richness of dining room decor with sophistication of modern
purposely designed areas in steel and glass. Unlike most other restaurants there is no way one can experience Speak Easy
in one sitting.
Not because of the obvious richness of the menu offered, but mainly because Speak Easy is the first Wellington venue
combining five different dining styles under one roof with a function room coming soon.
Get totally spoiled with choices from casual tapas bar sitting and communal style dining catching up with friends or
making new ones, to romantic formal dining experience which may end up in a relaxed bed lounge with a dessert and a
glass of Spanish wine. Arguably the longest wine list in town takes the whole purposely designed ring binder just to
list them all. Custom built tapas platters take 5-10 tapas from over 25 varieties to choose from. And you will have to
discover the beds in the lounge bar by yourself and find where the chef's table is hiding!
You must hurry to taste this week's selection of authentic dishes with a Spanish flavour created by Chef Sarah Ginella
as her plan is to change the menu every one to two weeks, taking absolute advantage of the best fresh produce New
Zealand has to offer. Sophisticated diners will discover new flavours in old favourites and are guaranteed to discover
new unforgettable dishes. When you wish to give your taste buds the ultimate treat, book the chef's table. With up to
six guests at a time you will have Chef Sarah personally looking after you and creating a culinary masterpiece right in
front of you.

Spanish and will invite you to a game of learning a word or two while you are dining.

card and coming VIP offering will open doors to a whole new level of dining experience. If you want to add Spanish

"Opening a new restaurant during challenging economic times might be an enormous risk elsewhere in the country," says
Michael, but with their long-respected restaurant reputation, Michael and Hilary are confident about attracting a steady
crowd of foodies from Hutt, Wellington and even overseas. Michael continues: "As we talk to people and tell them what we
are doing, we have had fantastic support from people in the community. Since we settled on the opening date, the phone
does not stop ringing. It's exciting and encouraging at the same time."
Speak Easy restauranté will be operating 7 days a week from 11 am till 11 pm providing an ideal venue for personal and
business affairs with purposely built function areas to suit new product launches, team meetings, training and corporate
lunches.

The term "speakeasy" became popular during the 1920s to identify bars, restaurants, halls and ballrooms where alcoholic
drinks were sold illegally. The 18th Amendment of the United States Constitution forbid the sales of beverages
containing over 0.5% alcohol.
To be admitted in an establishment that served alcoholic beverages, the customers were expected to speak low or
discretely in order not to attract attention. The term "speakeasy" was born. Speakeasies were typically presented as
an ice cream parlor, pastry shop, restaurant or coffee shop. Before entering, the customers were "evaluated" through a
small window. They would only gain entry by using the right card, knock or password.
Following the "speakeasy" tradition, coming soon will be the Speak Easy restauranté VIP Club card which will gain you
right of entry to extra dining experiences, unavailable otherwise.
