Belated Christmas Present For Waipukurau
A belated, but very welcome Christmas present will be heading to Waipukurau after a lucky player won the massive Powerball Lotto jackpot prize of over $5.2 million in tonight’s draw, says NZ Lotteries’ Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.
“This is the best belated Christmas present someone could get, and it’s a great way to start the New Year too,” says Mr McLeay.
The winning ticket was sold at Waipukurau Paper Plus and is worth over $5.2 million, which is made up of $5 million from Powerball First Division and $235,588 from Lotto First Division.
Lotto’s Holiday 100 Promotion has also made an instant millionaire of a lucky player who bought a ticket in Auckland. The winning $1 million voucher was sold at Highpoint Temptations Lotto in Birkenhead.
In addition, two fabulous $500,000 cash prizes towards a bach have been won by players who bought tickets at Papamoa United Video in Papamoa and Whitcoulls Taupo in Taupo.
All Lotto players who purchased a Triple Dip between Sunday 14 December, and 7pm, Saturday 27 December 2008, were given vouchers for tonight’s special draw to win one of 100 fabulous extra prizes in Lotto’s Holiday 100 Promotion. See our website www.mylotto.co.nz for all the results and locations for the other prizes.
Five other Lotto players also won $235,588 with Lotto’s First Division tonight. The winning tickets were sold at Jaques Four Square in Kaiwaka, Westside Superette in Waitakere, Take Note Paeroa, Pak N Save Rotorua and Fresh Choice Greymouth.
Meanwhile, Strike Four jackpotted tonight and will be worth an estimated $300,000 in next week’s draw.
Tonight’s other big winner was Auckland great grandmother Elsie Darwin who won $150,000 on Lotto’s Winning Wheel.
All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto’s Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet.
Tonight’s Winning Wheel ticket was sold at Ashburton New World, Ashburton. The serial number is 213-34325286-20XX.
“Anyone who bought a ticket at these retailers should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it as soon as possible at any NZ Lotteries’ outlet," Todd McLeay says.
