The 14th Westpac Franchise Awards Finalists Announced
With an annual turnover of $16 billion the New Zealand franchise industry plays a huge part in the New Zealand economy. The finalists for the 14th Westpac Franchise Awards have today been announced with both new and established franchises on the list.
New Zealand boasts the most franchises per capita in the world, and is one of the few countries which has a voluntary code of conduct for franchise operators. Over 70,000 people are employed by over 16,000 individually owned franchisee businesses, and the Awards are designed to recognise the highest performers.
Competition in the seven award categories is fiercely contested and provides businesses with valuable business and marketing advantages.
Phil Harrison, the sales and marketing manager of Carpet One, the winners of the 2007 Supreme Award of Franchise System of the Year and the Retail Franchise Award, said; “The Award came at an important growth stage for us and helped enormously in not only attracting potential franchisees but also attracting great candidates that have all progressed into excellent members of our franchise team.”
He continued; “We also found the process of entering rewarding and the judge’s comments extremely worthwhile as it encouraged us to undertake a thorough review of all our systems and processes at quite an advanced level. As a result, we made several changes that have improved our business.”
The New Zealand Franchise Awards will take place on 8 November 2008 and will be hosted by the famous entertainer Frankie Stevens, at the Rendezvous Hotel in Auckland.
The award categories include; Business Services, Food & Beverage, Home Services, Lifestyle Services, Retail, Service Provider and Master Franchisee. The two supreme awards are the Franchise System of the Year with all Franchise system finalists eligible and the Franchisee of the Year which all franchisee finalists are eligible for.
