New Ballroom Takes Shape
Auckland 27 June 2008 – The Centra Auckland Airport Hotel’s multi-million dollar refurbishment is in its final stages with its new ballroom nearly complete.
The refurbishment will not only give the ballroom a fresh new look but also offer state of the art technology including internet access through wireless and 18 dedicated datalines, fixed data projectors and mounted screens and an amazing LED lighting system.
“The lights are giant circles that appear to float just below the ceiling (they’re hung with stainless steel wire) these can change colour in time to music or settings as you choose – I’m unaware of any other ballroom in NZ having these – it’s very exciting,” says Rachel Leitch, Centra Auckland Airport Business Development Manager.
“The ballroom refurbishment ran strictly to schedule – it had to because it was booked out either side of the time allocated, and in the first two weeks of July with two major conferences.”
The pillarless room with a six metre high ceiling can seat up to 300 guests for dinner and also divides into 3 smaller rooms for smaller groups.
The Centra Auckland Airport’s conference market is relatively untapped and with its 10 refurbished conference rooms there is a targeted marketing drive underway to attract more conferences to the hotel.
“In addition to our conference rooms we’ve also got plenty of corridor space for exhibitions and courtyard and garden areas for break out meetings, as well as room outside to put up a marquee for up to 300 people,” says Rachel.
All conference rooms – apart from the ballroom – have natural light and most have outdoor access which of course delegates love.
Completion of the ballroom will finish the hotel’s multi-million dollar refurbishment that also includes new-look accommodation rooms, restaurant, bar, lobby and business centre. The hotel will also soon be re-branded Holiday Inn Auckland Airport.
The Centra Auckland Airport Hotel is a great place to stay for a leisure break or to undertake business. Handily located close to Auckland’s International and Domestic Airports it’s also a great place to overnight either before early morning or after late night flights.
