AsureQuality collaborates with hospitality industry sector on
introduction of the newly released Food Services National Qualification
AsureQuality, the country’s leading provider of food safety and
quality assurance services has entered into a partnership with the
Hospitality Standards Institute (H S I) on delivering targeted training
for the food services sector.
In announcing the collaboration AsureQuality Chief Executive Officer
Tony Egan says working with H S I to deliver and assess training for the
sector is a perfect fit for both businesses.
“We are in the business of working with major food companies to
ensure the food they are producing is safe to eat, that the quality
management and certifications are in place to ensure their businesses
are robust.
To work with those people right at the entry level means we are
continuing to educate our future on the importance of food service and
safety,” said Mr Egan.
H S I Chief Executive Steve Hanrahan says more and more hospitality
businesses are recognizing each year that training programmes are
helping to attract and keep top quality staff and improve workplace
skills . Not to mention ensuring their staff and students are providing
great food to customers.
“The partnership with AsureQuality means we will be providing an
innovative response in the delivery of the new National Certification in
Food Service,” said Mr Hanrahan.
“Additionally the programme is a good lead-in for the wider
hospitality sector to the introduction of food control plans in coming
years. We see this programme as a precursor to building training
capacity that meets these new skill requirements,” said Mr Hanrahan.
The Limited Credit Programme (LCP) training programme associated with
this new National Certification means AsureQuality will be assessing and
training some 500 people nationwide.
The training programme covers customer service, food preparation, food
safety, health and safety, personnel time management and presentation.
AsureQuality is also involved in presenting courses under the Sale of
Liquor Act, auditing of Food Safety Programmes and Food Control Plans
and laboratory testing.
H S I and AsureQuality have a relationship that goes back over ten
years and both organizations have some key common goals including the
upskilling of New Zealand’s hospitality workforce, securing and
improving business and tourism and making industry and community
environments safer places.
