Train derailment at Te Puna worksite

Train derailment at Te Puna worksite
An Auckland-bound freight train collided with a digger on an ONTRACK worksite at Te Puna, near the outskirts of Tauranga, shortly after midday today.
One locomotive and a wagon were derailed in the incident. Emergency services attended the site and have reported that there were no major injuries resulting from the collision.
Land Transport New Zealand and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission have been advised and will investigate the incident.
