Mediaworks’ Radio Strategy Pays Off
MediaWorks’ successful radio strategy, which includes the recent acquisition of Mai FM, has provided the company with a 31.1%^ share of the important Auckland market for the first time.
According to the latest radio survey released today by Research International, Mai FM is the most listened to music station in the important Auckland market with 170,600 listeners#.
The Rock is still the most listened to music station in New Zealand, with a national share of 10.4%*.
The Edge holds the position of the music station which has the most listeners nationally with 424,000^^. It also holds the number three music station in Auckland with 127,000, up 11,100 listeners from last survey#.
Brent Impey, MediaWorks CEO comments, “MediaWorks’ Auckland strategy has been based on establishing strong and effective radio brands for our advertisers.”
“Over the past seven years this has involved establishing The Rock, The Edge, The Breeze, RadioLIVE, BSport and our recent purchase of Mai FM. This gives MediaWorks a very strong position in all the key buying demographics of 18-34, 25-39 and 25-44. Advertisers also buy on total audience and the Auckland growth from 415,700 to 516,200 listeners is in line with our growth targets#,” he says.
