Rainbow Tourism Director named IGLTA Ambassador for Australia and New Zealand
The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association, the world's GLBT travel authority, recently announced the appointment of Mark Proffit, Director of Rainbow Tourism
International, as IGLTA Regional Ambassador for Australia and New Zealand.
Tom Nibbio, Global Ambassador of the US headquartered association, appointed Mark Proffit, cofounder of
RainbowTourism.com, as the national ambassador in country.
Mark has more than a dozen years of experience as an online GLBT tourism reservations pioneer. He has launched many GLBT
websites, including the first in New Zealand, GayTravelnet.com, the predecessor to RainbowTourism.com.
Nibbio said "The gay travel and hospitality industries have been immeasurably shaped by thousands of lesbians and gays
who have joined together to make IGLTA an international network. Because of them, and members like Rainbow Tourism, gay
and lesbian travelers can venture into some new city or foreign armed with information to connect with gay-owned and
gay-friendly businesses who welcome them like friends."
Proffit's partner and marketing chief for Rainbow Tourism's North American operations, Dee Farrell, is a founding member
of the IGLTA and served as its first executive director 25 years ago.
