Getstaffed Gets It Together
The success of NZ start-up getstaffed.com, a Recruitment 2.0 trailblazer, is giving traditional recruitment agencies cause for some concern. getstaffed allows independent IT contractors and hiring businesses to get together directly, without the need for a recruitment agency playing middleman.
Andrew Kissling, the CEO and a co-founder of getstaffed says "We're really quite astonished by the uptake of our new service. IT contractors are joining in droves and we now have 20 businesses connected with more joining the community all the time"
getstaffed.com automates the process of connecting contractors and hiring businesses. Mr Kissling describes the service as more like a 'dating agency' than a recruitment agency. "We facilitate the parties working together directly. We don't act as an intermediary which leaves the contractor and the business free to negotiate rates and terms that suit them best" says Mr Kissling.
Hiring businesses are given free tools to allow them to post contract vacancies, search the contractor database and review on-line testimonials, CV's and other reference material. Dr Greg Day, the Technical Director and other co-founder says "Our mission is to provide on-line tools that are intuitive, fast and put contractor supply together with hiring business demand as efficiently as possible". With hiring businesses enjoying services like database searching and job ad placement free of charge its easy to see this catching on. Dr Day notes that careful email alert tools keep getstaffed service at the fingertips of their community. "Email alerts are delicate to manage, as most people already have email overload and we don't want to add to the problem. By keeping in close contact with our business and contractor members, we're able to focus our emails to give the highest value to the entire community".
getstaffed's service is readily scalable across other sectors and up to larger markets. says Mr Kissling, "There's very little we need to do to move into the legal, accountancy, temping/admin and health verticals. Our plan is to finish refining our model in the IT sector and then take on other verticals and expand the full service into the London market. We are excited to be taking this kiwi start-up to the world stage"
