YHA Wellington City Wins Second Hoscar
International accolade for New Zealand tourism icon
YHA’s Wellington City Hostel has been named Oceania’s top backpacker hostel for the second year running, in the 6th Annual ‘Hoscar’ Awards held by international backpacking website Hostelworld.com.
More than 600,000 backpackers voted in the global survey. The winning hostels were selected from over 15,000 listed on the online booking website.
Hostels were judged on six criteria - character, security, location, staff, fun-factor and cleanliness.
Manager, Marketing and Sales, for YHA New Zealand, Daniel Shields says that the award is a reflection of hard work throughout YHA to operate to the highest standards. “We’re obviously thrilled with the results of the latest Hoscar Awards, which show that YHA New Zealand continues to operate at a world class level.”
”What is so satisfying about winning this particular award is that it is based purely on guest ratings. To win the award two years in a row shows we continue to delight our guests. And in such a competitive market winning means we’re actually a better hostel than we were a year ago.”
Hostel Manager, Chris Sperring said, “YHA Wellington City is a wonderful hostel that is brought to life by its staff. What is memorable for our guests is the genuine hospitality and the great time they have had in Wellington”.
YHA New Zealand has 51 hostels nationwide, providing high quality budget accommodation to New Zealanders and international travellers. Operating since 1932 YHA is one of the most enduring and largest tourist accommodation providers in the country. YHA New Zealand has succeeded by staying true to its objects of cultural and environmental understanding through the provision of budget accommodation for travellers. Most recently this is demonstrated by its commitment to a sustainable hostel network.
