Porter Novelli strengthens Marketing Communications offering
with Executive Director hire
Porter Novelli is buzzing about hiring ACP Publishing Director Louise Wright who will head up its marketing communications division, a move that further strengthens the agency’s best in class suite of offerings.
Louise is currently ACP’s Publishing Director of Mass Market Titles, Woman’s Day, The Australian Women’s Weekly (NZ edition) and New Weekly magazine. She has previously edited Cleo and She & More, worked as a journalist for the Sunday Star Times, the Christchurch Press and the Auckland Star and North Shore Times, and worked in PR in the UK.
Currently servicing a stable of prestigious brands including Fonterra Brands, Frucor, Gillette, Fisher Price Toys, Jenny Craig and Gold Coast Tourism, Porter Novelli’s marketing communications division has plans to expand across the board under Louise’s direction, and will extend its client offering which includes retail activation, experiential, events, sampling, road shows, media partnerships and brand launches.
Jane Sweeney, Managing Director of Porter Novelli, says Louise’s wealth of experience in the media industry, including enviable networks, will prove invaluable as the agency looks to expand.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Louise join the Porter Novelli team. After conducting an extensive recruitment search it was clear that Louise’s unique mix of skills, personality and drive meant she was a stand-out. We are looking forward to her bringing her own unique style and pizzazz to our offering.
“Louise has extensive experience of consumer brands and media titles, and is widely networked across companies focusing on the mass market and the advertising and brand agencies that service them. This background and her management experience and leadership style will all be tremendous assets to the company and we are very fortunate to have her on board. She instinctively gets the magic of combining a best in class corporate communications offering with up-to-the-minute marcomms - a combination rarely found in one agency but which many of our clients are demanding,” says Ms Sweeney.
Internationally Marketing Communications is Porter Novelli’s heritage. At a worldwide level the agency services some of the largest consumer brands including Hewlett Packard, Procter & Gamble and Sony.
Before joining Porter Novelli Louise has worked in a variety of high profile roles in the media industry. In January 1995 she was appointed editor of Woman’s Day – at 30 years old she was the youngest person ever to be selected for the role.
In 2001 she was promoted to Editor in Chief of Woman’s Day and The Australian Women’s Weekly New Zealand edition. Louise made a number of new hires and refocused the New Zealand edition of The Australian Women’s Weekly to take on strong local exclusive stories – a strategy that over two years lead to the publication’s highest circulation in two decades.
Three years later Louise was appointed Publishing Director of Mass Market Titles at ACP and was responsible for the highly successful relaunch of Woman’s Day. From 2004 to 2006 Louise represented ACP on the MPA Events Committee, organising awards and seminars for the industry.
Louise joins Porter Novelli in February 2008.
