Vodafone apologises to Telecom customers as well
Vodafone today announced it would also like to give something to Telecom Xtra customers following their email problems
experienced last week.
General manager of Products and Services Kursten Shalfoon acknowledged that the gesture is a cheeky one, but he also
would like to apologise to Xtra customers for all the inconvenience and frustration they’ve felt over the past week.
“We recognise Telecom’s generous offer of one week’s free broadband for all Xtra customers but we’d like to go a bit
further. We’ll give customers a year’s broadband for free instead.”
Shalfoon says he personally knows several people who were affected.
“I think it’s awful and I really feel for them. If they want to give us a call on 0800 42 41 40 we’ll happily ring
Telecom on their behalf and change them over to Vodafone. I’ll probably do it myself.”
Shalfoon says the offer is available to anyone affected by Xtra’s outage.
“Heck, we’ll make it available to everyone who knows someone on Xtra and even those who are thinking about joining this
whole broadband revolution. Come on over.”
Customers who move their landline to Vodafone get to keep their existing phone number so there’s no need to change.
Those that take up the $20 a month tolls package can make an unlimited number of calls to landline customers in New
Zealand and talk for up to two hours per call. They’ll also get Vodafone’s Broadband1 package absolutely free.
Broadband1 offers broadband download speeds as fast as the customer’s line can handle and 1GB of traffic, which is
enough to send up to 200,000 angry text emails. Customers who want more traffic can sign up for the higher-level plans
and get the $30 a month discount taken off the price. Broadband2, for example, offers 5GB of traffic and would cost only
$10 a month.
Customers will need their own DSL modem and early termination charges may apply.
