Xtra Rival Announces Redundant Email
August 23 2007 – Citing the recent failure of Xtra’s email service which stranded thousands of customers, Internet
hosting provider PrimeHost has announced immediate availability of its premium email solution, offering unmatched email
redundancy for businesses.
PrimeHost’s Director of Operations Dale McIsaac said “Our call centre has received hundreds of calls from angry Xtra
customers left totally in the dark over this Xtra outage.”
He said that many of PrimeHost’s customers use Xtra for their email and broadband service, but utilise PrimeHost’s
systems to host their web sites, resulting in a huge flood of desperate callers to the PrimeHost helpdesk.
“Our support team has been working around the clock assisting customers with domain names to transfer the hosting of
their email accounts from Xtra so they can resume normal business activities”, Mr McIsaac said.
PrimeHost’s new redundant email service offers the strength of enterprise class email combined with additional
redundancy to protect against common service failures, including backup email & webmail server access in addition to spam and virus filtering technologies for only $9.95 per month.
This service will appeal to business users who no longer wish to rely on the email services provided by mass-market
internet providers who in recent times have been plagued with service failures.
“Many non-technically savvy consumers do not realise that they have the choice not to use the email service offered by
their internet/broadband provider, and can instead use an external enhanced email service while retaining internet
access only via their access provider”, Mr McIsaac said.
