New Entrant recognised in recent SHELL Training Excellence Awards
Nelson-based Taylors Contracting Co Ltd have captured themselves a Rising Star with one of their young employees, Adam Hall, winning the New Entrant section of the SHELL Training Excellence Awards 2007 at the recent national New Zealand Contractors Federation conference held in Rotorua.
The Awards, developed by the Contractors Federation, with the assistance of SHELL and InfraTrain, were designed to recognise the outstanding training achievements of individuals within the Civil Construction Industry and reward those who are outstanding in their field.
“We put a lot of effort into our staff training and skill development”, explains Charlie Taylor, CEO, Taylors Contracting “Since the beginning, Taylors has understood that the company’s development and point of difference is driven by its staff. We felt that Adam was an obvious choice for the awards due to his enthusiasm, commitment to the job and training, and his continued growth in the role.“
Adam has had a long term interest in heavy machinery. His granddad owned bulldozers and from an early age Adam would watch him work. His desire to work with machines himself and follow in his granddads footsteps was realised when, after completing some work experience, Adam was offered a position with Taylors. Since then Adam has learnt a number of new skills and operated a variety of machines. He is currently operating a 24m3 motorscraper.
