AA descends upon Wanganui for Annual Conference
Wanganui will be awash with AA members and delegates later this week, when the city plays host to the organisation’s
2007 Annual Conference.
The conference will take place from Thursday 22 March to Saturday 24 March in a number of local venues, including the
War Memorial Hall, Racecourse, and Wanganui Collegiate School.
“Some 180 AA delegates, including representatives from the 17 AA District Councils throughout New Zealand, will be in
town to discuss road safety and motoring policy issues,” said AA spokesperson Greg Hunting.
“This year’s conference will also focus on climate change and how New Zealand motorists can play their part in
addressing environmental concerns.”
The conference will be attended by the Minister of Transport, Hon Annette King; the Minister responsible for Climate
Change Issues, Hon David Parker; and the Minister for Transport Safety, Hon Harry Duynhoven.
Dr Laurie Spark, Chief Engineer for Holden Innovation, Anna Reid National Manager of SADD (Students Against Driving
Drunk), and Alan Thompson, Chief Executive of the Ministry of Transport, will also address the conference.
Alan Evans who is President of the Australian Automobile Association, which represents 6.5 million motorists across the
Tasman, will also be visiting Wanganui for the conference, along with other AAA representatives.
The conference will be preceded by meetings of the AA Board and the AA National Council.
