Vogel’s Calls on Kiwis to Decide: To Slice or Not to Slice
Kiwis love their Vogel’s and as reported in the media over the last week, Vogel’s Original Mixed Grain Unsliced is also
a nostalgic favourite - but just how much of a favourite is the question?
Vogel’s had ceased baking the Unsliced variety on 19 February due to low sales and lack of popularity among consumers
when researched, but feedback following news of the change painted a different picture of the regard Kiwis have for the
loaf.
The Vogel’s team is therefore calling on fans of the Unsliced loaf to show their support by registering their details on
the Vogel’s website: www.vogels.co.nz. From today through to Wednesday 14 March Kiwis can log on to www.vogels.co.nz and
vote for the return of Vogel’s Original Mixed Grain Unsliced. If there is enough support for the loaf Vogel’s will
consider returning it to supermarket shelves.
NZ gourmet, food columnist and chef Annabelle White - a long-time fan of Vogel’s Unsliced - welcomes the move to gauge
the level of support consumers have for Vogel’s Original Mixed Grain Unsliced.
“There is clearly a place for Vogel’s Unsliced in many Kiwis’ hearts. Vogel’s is listening to consumers and has
indicated that it may in fact bring the variety back again if there is enough support for it,” Annabelle said.
“If Kiwis really do feel that Vogel’s Unsliced loaf is second-to-none then here is their chance to really show their
support. Many bread-lovers are passionate about the Vogel’s variety and frankly I’m one of them.”
Feedback to Vogel’s following news of the change included statements such as:
“Nothing compares to Vogel’s traditional sliced loaf”
“I have been an Unsliced Vogel’s fan for as long as I can remember
“I am a long time consumer of Vogel’s Bread and regard this excellent bread as a staple and strongly prefer the Unsliced
product over the alternatives”
“Unsliced loaf is part of our heritage. I have it for breakfast everyday”.
Vogel’s has also registered the calls, letters and emails received this week, and will add them to the total list to
ensure all votes will be counted.
Results of the customer poll will be collated on Thursday 15 March, with a decision on the future of loaf thereafter.
