FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Intergen And Kognition Merge
Intergen announced today that it has signed a merger agreement with Dunedin-based software and technology company Kognition. The merger is effective immediately.
Intergen Managing Director Tony Stewart says the merger brings to Intergen’s clients increased access to some of the most creative and forward thinking software developers in the country. “The merger enables us to offer our clients full service across all the main centres and makes it the biggest exclusive Microsoft provider in New Zealand”.
Mr Stewart says the merger with Kognition is a further step in the consolidation of Intergen’s strategic plan which has resulted in growth of more than 500 percent over the past six years.
“This sets the scene for our next phase of development.”
Former Kognition CEO Chris Auld becomes Intergen Director Strategy & Innovation, the title itself being an indication of Intergen’s future direction and ongoing commitment to bringing innovation to its clients, Mr Stewart says.
“Intergen has always had a reputation for being innovative. It’s not something we didn’t already have, but with the specialist input of the Kognition team we have an increased focal point for innovation,” Mr Stewart says.
Mr Auld says that as a leading New Zealand Microsoft solutions provider, Intergen’s special relationship with Microsoft together with Kognition’s specific experience in the mobility area will provide Intergen’s clients with more resources and expertise than ever before. Being one of only two Microsoft Regional directors in New Zealand adds even greater credibility to Intergen’s Microsoft representation.
The completion of the deal follows nine months of talks between the two companies, Mr Stewart says and swells Intergen's staff base to 160.
It established a branch in Christchurch two years ago which is now staffed by a team of 27. With the Dunedin operation, along with branches in Auckland and head office in Wellington as well as a Sydney-based office, Intergen is New Zealand's largest Microsoft-exclusive solution provider with a revenue of $16 million in 2006/077 and a target of $25 million in 2007/2008.
